TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF SOLID MATERIALS
Initially working in raw materials treatment (ore, mining and quarries) with the aim of developing mineral processing treatment, CTP evolved to environmental studies and processes (waste or industrial byproducts treatment) and innovative materials (incorporation of waste streams into materials with enhanced properties). As a renowned independent Research Centre in Wallonia, CTP has the aim of efficiently meeting the needs of its customers and partners, particularly helping them to solve problems and challenges linked with the treatment and recovery of solid materials (ore, industrial minerals, sludge, by-products, and waste). CTP is specialized in solid waste treatment and valorization, by mineral and plastic processing, in order to meet the major economic and societal challenges in a context of sustainable development.
Today, the 3 main axes of investigation of the Centre are recycling and reuse of solid waste streams, sludge treatment and purification or stabilization of polluted soils, therefore landfill mining is a key topic. The expertise of the Centre can be applied to any kind of solid residue (plastic, municipal waste, sediment and soil) and the techniques used are suitable for the recycling sector.
